Labor Arbitrator
Arbitrator Ryan Johnson combines over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, consulting, and labor arbitration to help parties resolve their disputes. He became interested in labor arbitration in the Fall of 2000 when working as Arbitrator Mario Bognanno’s graduate teaching assistant for a course in labor arbitration. From 2014 to 2021, he apprenticed under Arbitrator Bognanno where he attended hearings and wrote mock awards. Since 2002, he worked as a university professor conducting research on unionization, discrimination and segregation, and the effects of federal anti-discrimination policy. He also taught arbitration and collective bargaining in courses on Labor and Public Policy and Law and Economics. He continues to teach for the University of Arizona Eller School Online MBA and Executive MBA programs.

Fees and Policies

Per Diem Fee Policy: The fee is $2,000.00 per day for travel, hearing, research, study, drafting and case administration time. In addition, all case-related expenses are charged to the parties.
Cancellation Policy: The parties will be assessed a cancellation/postponement fee of $2,000.00 for a scheduled hearing that is canceled/postponed within 14 or fewer calendar days from the date of the scheduled hearing. In addition, the parties shall reimburse the Arbitrator for all non-recoverable expenses associated with the scheduling of the cancelled/postponed hearing.
